Parry cup and Tug of war

Parry cup, stock judging and poultry classes

Sunday saw the time of year for Parry Cup and Tug of War. Members arrived at Watergate Farm, some a little worse for wear after a very fun and boozy filled Bedford YFC party. We all signed in, put on our white coats and proceeded to the stock. We judged beef, Lambs, Pigs and dairy cows, wrote our reasons and then gave our reasons to the judges.

Meanwhile, the horsey members judged 4 working hunter type horses and they also gave reasons to the judge.

During the judging some members took part in chicken plucking, trussing and jointing as well as rabbit skinning.

Unfortunately we didn't get placed in the Parry Cup but we might have had more luck with the rally classes which we'll get the results for on Rally day itself.

Tug of war

This year, both the men and women's TOW teams joined forces with Bedford YFC - North Beds love joining forces, wouldn't want to miss out on the fun now would we?! We had been training hard and it all paid off, with the women only loosing to Leighton Buzzard and the men only loosing to Woburn, which can only mean we are off to the next round.....yes, we're off to Rally!!! Both clubs should be extremely proud!

Thank you to the Rally committee for organising the day and the Hunt family for letting us use their fabulous facilities, North Beds had a really good day. Let the countdown to rally begin! 

Spring update

It has been a few weeks since the last update and we've been busy bee's. We've had the annual car treasure hunt, county stock judging and club stock judging practice as meetings, not forgetting Pre-Rally and our Good Friday Party!

Given all this stock judging we should be in good stead for Parry cup this weekend right?!

Everyone joined in at pre-rally from showing their best creative skills to being a manikin for the recycled outfit class. 

We owe our thanks once again to everyone who came to our Good Friday Party. We were in our trusty barn at Davison's so thank you to them, this time with an all new DJ who everyone loved so thanks to Ultrasonic for the tunes. The place was once again packed for another brilliant night.

A big up to the North Beds team seen above offloading the barn and in the funny little portrait found in said bar as everyone pulls together for all the different events and in particularly in the run up to the rally!
